Nelson July 19th
Nelson held the first slam event of the 2012 NZ Poetry Slam series on Thursday July 19 at the Nelson Music School as part of the Nelson Winter Festival, an audience of 140 watched and enjoyed slam poetry after been well warmed up by Penny Ashton, only seven poets took part, but by all accounts the quality made up for the small quantity of Poets. The eventual winner was Roger Lusby, who flew the flag for Bush” poetry good to see another style of poetry endure, and he will be there at the NZ Slam Final in Wellington November 10th…

Much thanks to Mark Raffills for putting this together and also to the Nelson School of Music for sponsoring and producing the 1st Nelson Poetry Slam…

Thames July 27th
The slam at Thames was held on NZ Poetry Day July 27th…
An audience of around 40 watched listened and enjoyed as 11 poets participated…

Michael Daley and David Legge both from Thames were judged by the audience judges to be the top two, and will be in the Waikato final to be held in Hamilton, the winner of which will be flown to Wellington to be part of the NZ Slam National Final @ Meow Saturday November the 10th…
